The workshop "In the Footsteps of Aleksey Myakishev" takes place in the heart of Russia - 700 km north of Moscow. Kenozero Park is a preserved natural setting between thick forests and crystal clear lakes. The hundred or so inhabitants, scattered in small hamlets, perpetuate the ancestral Russian way of life.

An exceptional place to familiarize yourself with the Russian soul!

Workshop program


Saturday, August 10th

Departure from Moscow by couchette train

(Participants will meet at Yaroslav Station in Moscow at 7 pm)


Sunday, August 11th

Arrival at Niandoma station - Transfer to Kenozero
Stop at the village of Otchevensk
Arrival in Kenozero

(A photography session will be organized in Otchevensk,
a small village typical of northern Russia)



Monday, August 12th

Exploration of the old village of Vershinino
Meeting with craftsmen (potter, blacksmith...),
18th Century wooden chapel


(In groups of 2, trainees will explore
the village of Vershinino with a training supervisor)



Tuesday, August 13th

Boat exploration of the southern Kenozero Lake
Discovery of the villages of Zekhnov and Tyryshkino and Medvezhy Island


Wednesday, August 14th

Film development session
Free exploration of the surroundings of the village of Vershinino


(The first films made by the trainees will be developed.
With another training supervisor, trainees will explore the shores of Lake Kenozero)



Thursday, August 15th

Editing of the first photographs taken by the trainees
Taiga excursion around the village of Vershinino


(The Editing session will be an opportunity for the trainees to get feedback on their shots
with suggestions for improvement)



Friday, August 16th

Exploration of the northern part of Kenozero Lake
and the artisan village Ust-Potcha


(In groups of 2, trainees will explore with a traning supervisor
villages in the northern part of Lake Kenozero)



Saturday, August 17th

Morning of shooting with fishermen
Transfer to Niandoma and back by train to Moscow


(In groups of 2, trainees will explore with a training supervisor
the shores of the lake Kenozero)



Sunday, August 18th

Arrival in Moscow at Yaroslav station at 06:37

(In Kenozero Park, the planning of activities is subject to development
depending on the availability of the inhabitants, the weather of the day.
Each trainee will take pictures in shooting sesssion with each training supervisor)

Aurélien Le Duc
At the origin of Labo-Argentique's creation, and now also at the head of Bergger, Aurélien Le Duc is above all a passionate photographer.

He travels the world in search of human encounters that lead him to take intimate photographs.

As part of his laboratory activity, Aurélien has developed films for Raymond Depardon and Hervé Baudat.

Aleksey Myakishev
Professional journalist since 1991. It has been published in numerous periodicals in Russia (Nesweek, Kommersant) and Finland (Helsingin Sanomat, APU, Talouselama), etc.

Since 2012 and the publication of his first book, Aleksey Myakishev has exclusively developed an author's work in the wake of humanist photography.

Aleksey Myakishev is BERGGER and LEICA Ambassador for Russia.

Olivier Marchesi
Photographer specialized in silver-halide photography, Olivier Marchesi, member of the Hans Lucas studio, lived several years in Moscow, from 2013 to 2017.

His work on Russia has been exhibited in France and Russia.

He also leads the publisher
BERGGER editions dedicated to the publication of long-term photographic works produced on film.
